ABM Advent and Christmas Appeal

The angel’s message to the shepherds on that first Christmas Eve was one of peace, reconciliation and hope. Two of ABM AID’s partners, the Diocese of Colombo in Sri Lanka and Gawura in Sydney, are working towards that same peace, reconciliation and hope by providing education to disadvantaged children in Sri Lanka and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in Sydney.
Many children have been impoverished by the economic crisis that has plagued Sri Lanka in recent years. The Diocese of Colombo, through centres including the Oppuravillam Peace Centre, offers hope for a better future to such children through classes in IT, extra coaching towards their national exams, awareness sessions for teenagers in child and drug abuse and the wise use of social media and mobile phones, as well as nutritional supplements for pre-schoolers.
Here is Australia, accessing the strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture is seen as key to the success of Gawura which provides a primary school education to up to 42 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in Sydney.
You can give using the Gift envelopes at the back of the church or by direct debit ( details on the envelope). The appeal is tax -deductible.
